I am not having any luck this week
First a kid with a broken leg hits my car with a scooter (Originally I didn't find damage but of course I found a nick later), later my clutch started having issues and now there's a nail in my tire. I wonder what's next.
Hope you guys are having a better week then I am.
I hope this can be patched, these tires are only a few months old.

Pretty close to the sidewall. I think you're SOL. But hope for the best.

So close to the shoulder. If no one will patch it I'd do it myself and hope for the best.

I hope that the kid's leg was already broken beforehand. :P
But damn, I know how that goes. I recently got a love tap from another white car, so I assumed there wasn't going to be a mark or anything. You can't tell unless you get really, really close, but Nissan's white isn't a perfect match for Ford's Oxford White.

This is what I was afraid of. Great.

That's what I'm afraid of. It's in a very bad spot.

I wouldn't trust myself to do that, tires are way to important to screw up. If it can't be patched I'll do what needs to be done.

Meh. It's a little hole no bigs. I've patched tons of tires with a similar kit. Went through a bad stretch of nail acquisition.

He must have broke it pretty bad, his cast went from his foot to above his knee. Of course when he decided to cross my car he hopped off the scooter, down off the curb and just the scooter went in to my car.
That sucks on the love tap. At least it's white, not a black license plate on a yellow bumper like the first time I got hit.

Yeah, it's no biggie either way. I already have a few nicks in the same place, so even if I noticed it I wouldn't have done anything differently.
Ouch, that sucks! I imagine it was pretty noticeable for a while.

That sucks man. I lost a GS-D3 that way, with 400 miles on it.

What's worse is that I know this had to happen on a road in to a new development that's being built. I usually have to go on that road because it's a huge pain trying to exit the other way of my neighborhood. It's so bumpy and easy to loose traction because of the dirt. There's a good chance this might happen again.

It was bound to happen. I just hate that it had to happen this way. At 100K I already have a good amount of nicks on the front end.
And to me I could spot that damage from a mile away. Everyone else I showed it to though barley saw anything. Even the school security guard told me he didn't see any damage. But to me it was so painfully obvious. I couldn't tell if they were trying to make me feel better or they really couldn't see it.

I'm afraid I'm going to lose this tire because of it. Whether it's patched or completely new I will always be bothered by it for some reason. Because with a whole new tire its wear isn't even with the rest. While it won't be a big deal considering these tires don't have a lot of miles on them I just get annoyed. But oh well, stuff happens.

If there is a good chance it will happen again, then I would definitely invest in a kit like CG's image above. I have one as well that I keep just in case.

I was thinking that to. Is it easy to patch?

Yeah, could be worse, you could have hit a pothole causing you to lose the wheel or something .
FWIW no tire place I've used will repair damage in that area. You might find one that's a bit more "loose" and will do it but it's risky.

Funny you mention potholes. My dad hit one on the highway and forced him to get new front tires. He was about to get new ones anyway so he lucked out there. That wasn't even a month or two after some other random metal piece managed to completely cut his sidewall open.
I have a place I trust so I'll probably just end up doing what they think is right.

Yea, theres one hand tool you use to rough up the hole, then you slide a rubber strip into the 'eye'(think threading a needle) coat it with some goop and push in, turn and yank out. Snip off the excess sticking out with some wire cutters and done. Plugging a hole is pretty easy.

That does sound pretty easy. I'll look in to it, thanks!
